UAE supplies 45.5% of Japan's oil imports in April

TOKYO, 30th May, 2025 (WAM) -- The United Arab Emirates was Japan's top crude oil supplier in April 2025, providing Tokyo with 34 million barrels of crude, according to official Japanese data.

This volume accounted for 45.5 percent of Japan's total crude oil imports for the month, based on figures released by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

In total, Japan imported 74.77 million barrels of crude oil in April, with Arab oil making up the vast majority at 94.1 percent or 70.40 million barrels. These imports came from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Sudan.

Saudi Arabia ranked second after the UAE, supplying 27.10 million barrels or 36.3 percent of Japan's total imports. Qatar contributed 5.25 million barrels (7 percent), followed by Kuwait with 2.79 million barrels (3.7 percent), Oman with 1.2 percent, and Sudan with 0.4 percent.

The remaining oil imports came from other sources, including the United States (3.9 percent), Ecuador (1.4 percent), Brunei (0.2 percent), and Oceania (0.1 percent).
