German shares almost unchanged at Monday opening

BERLIN, May 10 (Xinhua) -- German shares were almost unchanged at the opening on Monday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 17.88 points, or 0.12 percent, to open at 15,417.53 points.

The biggest winner of the 30 largest listed companies after trading began was Deutsche Bank, increasing 1.25 percent, followed up were sportswear manufacturer Adidas with 0.93 percent and chemical giant BASF with 0.87 percent.

The share price of Delivery Hero fell the most by 1.56 percent.

The turnover in Germany's main construction industry in February dropped 15.3 percent year-on-year, while the number of employees grew 1.3 percent, the country's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced on Monday.

The country exported a total of 12.7 million cubic meters of raw timber worth 845 million euros (approximately 1.03 billion U.S. dollars) in 2020, growing more than 40 percent year-on-year, according to Destatis. More than half of German timber exports went to China.

The yield on German 10-year bonds increased 0.0140 percentage points to minus 0.2040 percent and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.2170 U.S. dollars, increasing 0.01 percent on Monday morning.
